Vuyisile is a Lecturer at the University of Mpumalanga and Senior Researcher of Rivers of Life. She is a PhD candidate at  the University of the Witwatersrand and holds an Msc in Water Resources Management from the University of Zimbabwe. Vuyisile is working on the development of a socio-ecological monitoring framework that will integrate societal and ecological parameters to assess river health and contribute to their sustainable management. Vuyisile’s is an aquatic socio-ecologist with interests in water resources management particularly the integrative monitoring of human impacts on water resources and the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being. Vuyisile, has experience in river health studies, water use licence evaluations, environmental impact assessments, socio-ecological project evaluations, community mapping, climate change vulnerability and adaptation assessment of water resources. She has published peer-reviewed publications and contributed to numerous specialist reports. Vuyisile’s career vision is to undertake more socio-ecological research; on ecological state of water resources and their impact on small-scale fisheries and vulnerable communities’ well-being.
